EAMAN Nashville
Our Mission
Preserve heritage, bridge cultural gaps, and strengthen community self-sufficiency.
A clear charitable purpose
Our mission is to preserve the cultural and religious heritage of Ethiopian and other African community members, bridge cultural gaps, and strengthen the ability of individuals and families to achieve educational, social, emotional, and economic self-sufficiency. We pursue this mission through practical programs, community relationships, responsible referrals, and opportunities for service.
Preserving heritage means helping children, adults, and elders remain connected to language, faith, memory, family traditions, and community responsibility. EAMAN creates spaces where cultural identity can be shared with confidence and where younger generations can learn directly from parents, elders, and community leaders.
Bridging cultural gaps means helping community members understand and participate in life in Nashville while also helping local institutions communicate more effectively with Ethiopian and African families. This may involve educational sessions, partnerships, referrals, public information, and community gatherings. We encourage belonging without asking people to abandon the identity and values that shape their lives.
Strengthening self-sufficiency means supporting informed decisions. EAMAN helps participants locate educational resources, prepare for employment, understand health information, explore responsible business development, and participate in civic life. The organization does not guarantee results, funding, jobs, academic performance, health outcomes, or legal outcomes. Our role is to improve access to information, connection, and encouragement.
Our mission is carried out through clearly described programs and activities. These include Community Health, Education and Youth Empowerment, Elderly Support, Culture and Heritage, Professional and Career Development, Small Business Support, Civic Engagement, and Volunteer Opportunities. Each program has defined limits and is offered according to need and capacity.
EAMAN serves with dignity, honesty, and respect. We protect the trust of community members by avoiding exaggerated claims, handling personal information carefully, and referring specialized needs to qualified professionals. The mission is not measured only by events held or forms completed. It is reflected in stronger relationships, better understanding, preserved identity, and responsible opportunities for people to help one another.
