EAMAN Nashville
Volunteer Opportunities
Serve with purpose, clear expectations, and respect for the community.
Responsible community service
Volunteers help EAMAN turn community knowledge, professional experience, language skills, and compassion into practical service. Opportunities may include event support, youth mentoring, elderly outreach, translation, workshop assistance, health education logistics, career preparation, small business education, civic information, communications, and administrative support.
EAMAN welcomes volunteers who understand that community service requires reliability, humility, privacy, and clear boundaries. Volunteers should not present themselves as licensed professionals unless they hold appropriate credentials and have been approved for that role. They must not make promises about benefits, immigration outcomes, employment, health, finances, or legal matters.
Before placement, EAMAN may ask about the volunteer’s interests, experience, languages, availability, and preferred type of service. Some roles involving children, older adults, transportation, confidential information, or specialized services may require additional screening, orientation, or documentation. Submitting a form does not guarantee placement.
Volunteer service should strengthen participants rather than create dependence. A good volunteer listens, explains information clearly, respects cultural and religious values, and helps community members make their own informed decisions. Volunteers are also expected to follow event rules, protect personal information, and communicate promptly if they cannot complete a commitment.
People can contribute in many ways. A student may help with event setup. A professional may lead an educational workshop. A bilingual community member may support communication. A retired person may offer mentoring. A local partner may provide space, materials, or referrals. Every contribution should be connected to EAMAN’s nonprofit mission.
EAMAN does not charge people to volunteer. Volunteers should never collect money privately in the name of the organization or use participant information for personal business. Questions about donations, expenses, or fundraising must be directed to authorized EAMAN leadership.
By serving through a clear and responsible structure, volunteers help preserve trust and create lasting value for Ethiopian and other African families in Nashville.
